After dodging the blacklist in 1957, the Seegers buy a camera and trot the globe (family in tow) to capture all the folklores. Today a snake charmer, tomorrow a black chain gang, the day after a sitar duo. Around the world in 80 songs.

Pete is Pete Seeger, and Toshi is his wife. 55 years ago, Seeger refused to incriminate his buddies before the Un-American Activities Committee and was added to the blacklist. When Seeger recovered his passport, this is what he decided to do: Buy a 16mm camera and travel the world (with his family in tow) to document all the folklores from all the places. This, therefore, is a documentary about people documenting stuff. We meet Seeger in 2012 (shortly before his death), and rewind towards the '60s, in a logbook that is both musical odyssey and ethnocentric utopia. Seeger, renowned excavator of American musical traditions, starts off filming neighbors (his friends: Odetta, Sonny Terry and Big Bill Bronzy), but before long, he's up and off, landing in Trinidad, Samoa, Australia, Indonesia, Tokyo, Calcutta, Nairobi, Austria, London and even the Soviet Union (in full-on Cold War). His daughters' testimony and recent interviews with the adorable Seeger couple, confirm it was a great adventure: without luggage, without schooling (Seeger educated his offspring himself), without borders: Today a snake charmer, tomorrow a black chain gang, the day after a sitar duo. Around the world in 80 songs.

William Eigen is an American producer who got bitten by the directing bug. After producing Pete Seeger: The Power of Song (2007) and Sing Your Song (2011), he got behind the camera for this new documentary about the Seegers.
